The Arch Nemesis

Remember my confession of having no idea what I'm doing? That still stands but it's getting better. After our Dr. gave us the ok to feed Talia anything we want, a lot of the stress over feeding has been lifted. We've really started experimenting with different foods and letting her try anything she shows interest in. The rule that we stick by is no processed sugars.
Tali's arch nemesis- Banana's
So far it's been working really well for us. Talia has been really receptive to trying new foods. We've still been giving her baby food and then supplementing her with finger foods. The other day at the grocery store, I bought the Toddler Food instead of the 8month+ food that we had been feeding her. I didn't even think that this would be a big change for her. Fast forward to last night. She flat out REFUSED to eat the new food. As soon as it went into her mouth she would spit it out. We'd eat a mouthful and act all excited, and then offer it back to her. Normally this is all it takes to convince her to eat something new. Not last night. She'd spit it right back out. We tried a different flavor of Toddler food. She stuck her tongue out so that we couldn't even get a spoonful into her mouth. We tried letting her pick up the chunks and feed herself. That worked, until she got the food in her mouth and she spit it out.

We finally gave in. She wasn't going to eat the Toddler food. It wasn't going to happen. I made her up a hot dog (Shush now, we were desperate). This kid is GAGA for hot dogs. Not last night. She spit it right back out again.

This is all oddly familiar. We went through this with banana's. Banana's were Talia's arch nemesis for the longest time. She's over that now- in fact she ate an entire banana yesterday! She has the coolest technique for getting them off the tray too.  We'll keep trying to push the  Toddler food over the next couple of days. Hopefully it's just the texture that she needs to get used to (especially since I have a cupboard filled of Toddler food now...)
